This photo is a brand of oil you can spray on your food – it is not part of this article but in essence shows exactly what a release agent spray on a candy mold, bread mold or any other food related mold is doing. You are eating the oil that has been sprayed onto the pan and then the food cooks within that oil. So, what’s in the spray? Shouldn’t we all know all of the ingredients that are within the can? Be informed and should you suddenly be allergic to a food you weren’t before, could it be the spray used to make the food look pretty?
A friend on my Facebook page asked me about my blog and stated that her face was swollen shut and they still don’t know what caused it and it reminded me about release agents. I have mentioned them before but continue to research and thought I’d share my post to her here:
I had a tootsie roll one night and had symptoms similar to advanced stages of Cerebral Palsy. I couldn’t walk, and according to their website, there is nothing in that candy that I’m allergic to… I wrote them and they admitted they use a release agent with Tocopherol Stearate in it. Tocopherol is Vitamin E, however that vitamin is not extracted from the same plant every time. I was able to eat these in the past – entire bags of them, with -0- symptoms and now -1- will knock me down! I tried vegan candy from the healthfood store and it also had -0- allergens and only Tocopherol, to attribute my passing out in less than a minute.
I ingest my Vitamin E using Red Palm oil, Sunflower Oil and Safflower oils.. or foods that contain these foods. It’s this spray-on release agent used to release the candy that has me concerned. They list it as food-safe and it sounds like a good idea – but just where is the Vitamin E coming from in some of these sprays? Yes, I’m allergic to wheat – but honestly it never affected my neurological function in the past, so I’m wondering – is there a new nut or plant that is being used in this spray that they are hiding under the Tocopherol name? Is it safe?
This is only one gray area in the ingredient lists that we are finally getting on our food packages There is serious need for them to also explain where they get the ingredient from – which food, or worse,, is it synthetic and chemically generated and still called the same thing? I’d prefer not to die just to keep food from sticking on a pan.
This site speaks of names that are in other countries but it shows the vastness of the situation with regards to natural vs. chemical. I’m going to study this site more and am diligently trying to find out how many different plants are used to create Tocopherol to hopefully uncover why it has such a serious affect on me. http://www.dermnetnz.org/reactions/e-numbers.html
If you’re allergic to wheat this is a no-go…
If you go to Toostie’s website there is no allergens in this candy – none that I could find and I tried to eat them… honestly I got away with it for a while but as time passed without eating any wheat – finally I couldn’t eat them anymore. This was after-all the last candy that I thought I could eat and it is something I miss from time to time.
I was beginning to get extremely bad leg cramps whenever I ate any but one night, while on the road and in a hotel alone, I ate 3 small rolls as pictured and this was the last time!
I passed out and woke about an hour after ingesting them – like other times, I was cramped and planned to head to the bathtub to warm my legs and rid myself of these horrible pains. But this time, there were more symptoms, shockingly I looked at my feet and they were contorted to the point that I appeared as if I had Cerebral Palsy – I could not stand up because my feet would not straighten – I was terrified! My arms and wrists became involved this time for the first time ever. I was close to calling 911 and probably should have but crawled to the tub with my cell and managed to survive the night.
I don’t crave candy now, I shutter and look at all the pretty packages as toxic poison now.
Driving home from one of my sewing shows, I decided to drink the water that the hotel had provided me – despite my knowledge about the benefits of drinking spring water rather than the filtered tap water. This is because of the lack of Iodine – but to my surprise, after only 2 sips, I went into anaphylaxis and had to pull over to pass out!
Needless to say, I didn’t drink the rest of the bottle and once I had time, I went online to read about the process used and they brag about adding back in minerals. One of the ingredients is Tocopherol… and it knocks me out every time! A wheat derivative in most cases – so if you’re allergic to wheat or celiac, be warned and be mindful of this scary reality.
Bottled water that I’ve drank without an allergic reaction include : Poland Springs, Arrowhead, Smart Water, Evian & Figi I’m not sure if Aqua Fina has caused any reaction, I haven’t had any in years.
Here are some names that you should print out and carry with you if you’ve been diagnosed with Gluten allergy, Wheat allergy, Celiac disease or borderline Autistic. – I wish you a healthy life~

I wanted to push to release this because I took an OFF-BRAND of Advil and had to pull over in my car to nap (allergic napping) and it dawned on me that since Tocopheryl Stearate is used to release vitamins from the mold that forms them, it may be also in the coating on my lower-priced version of Advil (Ibuprofen) – It is… And Advil does not contain any – I was fine using it.. I am now going to add my pain relievers to the ever-growing list of items I must not buy.
I wish you a day without exposure and one filled with inspiration and the willingness to share this information with anyone else you may know that is allergic or suffering from these conditions.
My choice for Shampoo and Conditioner is Aveeno Active Naturals and only the Pure Renewal GREEN bottle. They’ve started adding Wheat protein to some of this line so be mindful to read the label. Especially because companies often change over years. I pray they don’t change this one.
HINT: Insert this brand’s shampoo into all of your hand-soap pumps for hand soap and no one will ever know it isn’t soap. Find a soap you know you can use and carry it with you to eliminate exposures in public or friend’s bathrooms.
Never use someone’s lotion!

I was just reminded about the fact that my eye lashes were all but gone, I thought it was due to using water-proof mascara (I don’t anymore) and stopped as a result. I have been enjoying not having to try to fill in the gaps between them but had forgotten how few remained before I stopped eating foods that I was allergic to.
If you’re losing yours, if your eyelash area itches, it may be something you’re eating…..
For the last 20 or so years, I’ve had acrylic covering my nail beds. You may think it was for glamour sake, however it was more than that.
Because my business keeps my hands under the camera’s eye and the eyes of thousands, I did want my nails to look nice – mostly because bad looking nails is a distraction for the viewer. However the real reason I began applying it over my nails were because my nails:
- Were thin. (thinner than anyone in my family)
- Bent backward if I pushed against things.
- Nail beds were shaped so that the nails went up at the ends instead of downward. (the only one in my family with nail beds that shape)
- Nail beds were tender to the touch. (slightest tap would cause severe pain)
- Nails split in layers. (peeled like there were layers on top of each other instead of one solid nail)
- Nails tore. (so easily that I couldn’t even scratch myself without them bending back and tearing)
Now, after several months of not eating any of my food allergies, my nails are strong, they are healing from years of applying acrylic and even the area that has been filed down is stronger than my original nails were. I can tap the top of the thin areas and there is no pain!
I have been using a glue on nail (not sanding nail bed) to cover the ugly nails that remain, but the new growth is young strong looking nails!
This is very exciting, I’ve never wanted to wear them and am finally free of the process. I knew each time I breathed in the smell, I was hurting my lungs and am so grateful to finally not have to inhale it.
Interesting to find such odd symptoms going away revealing themselves to me after 48 years of eating foods that I was allergic to….. so wonderful and so shocking.

I couldn’t believe, this past Thanksgiving, how much faster everything cooked! Turkey took 2 hours less and was juicy and tender and the amount of broth left over is astounding! I also was astonished with the mashed potatoes…….. you slice them up – rinse them off and then….. DO NOT ADD WATER! Yep, no water added and they cooked to perfection~
Why is the NO WATER added so wonderful…? Because, water takes out nutrients and then you pour it down the drain! Not with these pans…..
If that isn’t enough, cooking food above 200 degrees kills good bacteria and strips food of its vital nutrients, cooking with these, allows you to cook at lower temps – and that also saves you on energy bills….
Clearly a win-win for me, I hope you enjoy learning from Mich Elle, she’s amazing and my niece 🙂
